Float
The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is one of the most recognizable spectacles in American culture — a procession of giant inflatable floats drifting through the streets of New York City. For T-Mobile's Times Square anamorphic billboard, WONGDOODY brought that world directly onto the corner display, translating the parade format into a piece of large-format experiential content.
I contributed as a 3D animator and VFX artist, with my primary focus on the soft body float simulations — specifically the interaction between the donut dunking into the coffee cup and the T-Rex head colliding into it. Getting inflatable surfaces to read as convincingly buoyant, with the right amount of jiggle and weight, while also selling the splash coming out of the cup, was the technical and creative core of my work on the piece.
I also animated the closing leaf sequence, where the T-Mobile logo dissolves into individual leaves that drift and flutter away with the breeze — and contributed VFX work on the magenta building treatment in the background cityscape.
